I was planning on replacing my old mercury bulb with a new Mega-Ray bulb for Milo's enclosure. I immediately was getting some high readings, so I removed it, and allowed it to burn 100 hours before re testing.
At 14 inches directly under the bulb, I was getting a reading of 98 uW/cm2, which was ok; but then moving to the outer rim of the bulb, I was getting readings at 350 uW/cm2.
I called Bob at ReptileUV Labs, and he is going to send me another one. He agreed that the bulb was faulty. He was very courteous, and helpful.
So glad I had my Solar Meter 6.2. It just payed for itself!!!

Great thanks! I think this is a worth while investment if you are going to have tortoises and turtles for many years.

Got the replacement (Mega Ray bulb) today. The readings are much better. 110 uW/cm2 at 14". Now Milo has some good rays!!
