This hatchlings just hatched minutes ago , I've never produced a hatchling missing it's vertebral scute . The #1 vertebral scute has a brown line thru it , but it isn't split.

What predictions do you have on his health in the future?

It's quite hard to say , I don't know of any adults with the same or similar shell pattern in existence .

Is there anything to do with the temperature you incubated? At whet temperature you incubated him/her? But it is a very special one for sure.

The interesting part about this, is that this was the last egg from the clutch to hatch .
26 eggs were laid , 2 infertile eggs, 23 eggs hatched at 95-100 days with no imperfections. This hatchling hatched at 125 days . Hatched Roughly 1 month after the rest. I don't think this unique hatchling , has anything to due with my incubation temps , 86 degrees throughout the entire incubation period 70-80 humidity .

That's interesting. I wouldn't think the health would be any different with this circumstance anymore than split or extra scutes. Do you plan to keep this one?

Thanks for the pic mosteraldabra. I don't plan on keeping this hatchling, I already have my hands tied with all of my adult tortoises , lol. I agree with Tortieluver, I don't see how this would affect it's health in anyway. It's just a simple carapace imperfection , that makes this tort unique. Thanks for all the compliments .
