Is an underground house a good or bad idea for winter? I am getting prepared to welcome home a 60 pound sulcata and want to make sure he is safe and happy this winter.

It's a great idea. Check out some of Toms threads in the enclosure section. He uses them for his sulcatas in Cali for the cold nights. He can help you with them if you need it, but his threads pretty much takes you step by step.

That would depend on where in the world you live and the weather you get...let's say your location is someplace that is very wet and cold or if you lived in an area where you flood..or if the spot you pick on your property floods...then likely not so much...but if you are in an area where those are not hazards..then yes, below the surface provides good shelter...just remember wood rots and termites love wood...
