Hello,

I was just given a turtle from someone who didn’t know how to take care of one. I’ve owned res before, but they were all adults when I got them. I was just wondering if this little guys shell looks okay. Thanks in advance!

He’s in a 40 gallon tank currently with a basking area. He is still kind of shy, but I have seen him up on his basking area a couple of times

Hi and welcome!

That's a pretty little turtle, and his shell looks fine to me.

The shell looks great. From what I see, it looks like it is doing quite well.

Might not matter to you, but it does look like its more of a Cumberland Slider than Red-ear based on the look of the carapace and more orange "red ear". Trachemys scripta troostii, vs. Trachemys scripta elegans. No difference what so ever in care, just some people like to know!

Thanks everybody! I just wanted to make sure the little guy has a good healthy shell. All of my other turtles were full grown so I never had to chance to watch their shells grow.
