Every tortoise will probably be somewhat be different in what THEY feel is a treat. I watched my Hermann's tortoise eat and paid extra attention to what she ALWAYS picked first, or what would cause her to IGNORE her other food to go for that particular food.

With this in mind, my Hermann's, (Elsa) especially loves day lily blossoms (only orange), hibiscus blossoms (only red), squash blossoms, the very occasional carrot and cucumber! She also LOOOOOVES Mazuri (she gets it about twice a week). :p

I hope this helps!! :)

Where you at? If you are in US, Look.Google for Mazuri. I order 25lb bag for about 39 dollar including shipping.

I have a Hermann's tort, and the Mazuri chunks are too hard for her to eat dry. So I put 3-4 chunks in a small cup and add just enough water to completely soak into the chunks. This makes them soft- like thick cooked oatmeal or firm mashed potatoes. You'll have to experiment with how much water this takes and how many minutes to soak (I break the chunks in half so mine soak in about 5 minutes). That works well for me.

Sometimes I'll chop up some food she won't eat, but I know it's good for her (like prickly pear) and mix it in with the Mazuri. This had worked well for me.
Good luck!:)

Kiwi, mangos, peaches, hibiscus leaves & flowers & I'm newer to the mazuri & let me tell you they didn't want nothing eles for Days!!!! My torts also like these other pellets that are colorful and smell like fruity pebbles cereal. There's no name just tortoise food. But they love them too.

Just make SURE you know what foods are good for the type of tortoise you have. For example, Hermann's tortoises (and other Mediterranean species) can get very sick if they eat fruit like strawberries and watermelon. Their digestive system was NOT DESIGNED to handle fruit sugars.
But other tortoises (like Redfoots and American box turtles, I think) have digestive systems that CAN handle the fruit sugars, so fruit can be a good treat for them.

I tried freezing greens and leaves, but they got all squishy and gross when they thawed... not appealing to a tort!

Yes, Yellow turtle is right. My family grows lots of edible flowers for fun salads, chocolates, etc. They do turn to mush in the freezer. I haven't tried drying them yet. My tortoise really really likes little violas which are pretty easy to grow inside:)

I sometimes get a box of discarded romaine lettuce leaves from the green grocer,I have found the best way to keep them is to wrap bunches in plastic cling film as tightly as possible & put them in the fridge , not the freezer mind you .:tort::<3:
