Hi - I’m new here and wanted to ask about one of my girlfriend’s Russian tortoises. GF has had her for a few years now, and said she always had a chip on her shell (seen in the before photo from 2 years ago) but assured me it was fine. In those two years, I’ve noticed the chip on the back has not only grown and turned all flaky, but new spots have been cropping up and expanding as well, including one on her undercarriage. I’ve asked my gf about this, and they’re not sure what could be causing this either and has also been worried.
I admittedly don’t know much about tortoises but I’ve been trying to research as much as I can ever since we moved in together to make sure the torts are happy and healthy, and I’m worried about shell rot. Aside from these patches, behavior has been normal and appetite is fine. Should we bring her into the vet, or are we just worrywarting?
