Tortoise isn’t eating!

Just 5 days ago, I put my Sulcata tortoise in his new enclosure in my greenhouse and he hasn’t eaten very much since doing so. Can moving into a new enclosure do this?

From what I've heard, torts can be very unhappy with changes in their surroundings. Try offering him his favorites and soak him daily to keep him well-hydrated--that's far more vital.

I believe that he is around a year old.

No, actually. I’m pretty sure that he walks around more than he sleeps!

Okay, so when I moved him into his new habitat, I fed him thistles for the first time and now he won’t eat anything but that. If he try’s to, then he just kind of spits it out and moves his head as if it tastes terrible.

Moving a tortoise from his familiar surroundings to a strange place will sometimes upset the tort...Give him time, make sure the temps are correct and just let him settle in....

He’ll eat when he gets hungry enough.

Just keep his temps and humidity up and give him his daily soaks.
