Hello Everyone, I need help trying to identify this tortoise. People keep telling me it is a Sulcata Tortoise but then I've had a couple people say they think it is a Gopher Tortoise. If anyone could tell me what it is that would be wonderful. Here are some pictures. Thanks

Hello and Welcome. Where are you from? This is not a sulcata for sure.

It is a Gopher tortoise and they are a protected species. Illegal to take them from the wild or to buy/sell them.

We live in Florida. I work at animal services and it was confiscated as part of a cruelty case. We were trying to find out if it was a gopher so we know to call fwc or not. thank you.

Ya we knew gophers were protected. The guy will probably be getting more charges now since it's a protected species.
