I am in love with my Russian tortoise, Ziggy, that I got from a rescue group in NC last fall. While talking to a friend yesterday, I mentioned the rescue when she asked about Zig. I went to their page out of curiosity and noticed this little girl and the accompanying description. Is she a Hermann’s tortoise? If so, how different is care of a Hermann’s versus a Russian?

Ziggy has been enjoying his outside area! I need to put more fun stuff back in; I just cleaned it out and trimmed the grass.

I agree about her being a Russian. She seems to have possible MBD.

LOL!!! You've caught the disease! You get the first one, and the next thing you know you have 87 and every inch of your house and land outside is dedicated to tortoises! LOL!!!

I am just now more comfortable taking care of Ziggy! But he’s a great little guy! I will be saved from getting too many because I have to leave enough room for my dogs! Lol

Dogs and cats do well in pares but tortoises do well in trios

It doesn't determine it 100%, but in the photo it looks like the tortoise has a depression in the back shell.
