Hi everyone I am new to this forum.
What is best for the Egyptian turtles of terrarium. Open or closed?
the videos I watch on youtube there are many who have them in an open terrarium.
Even I keep my two I don't know sex on yet, in closed terrarium.
Looking forward to a lot of reading in here.

I have mine in an open enclosure. The average relative humidity where I live is around 50%. By keeping a layer of sand below my oyster shell, I am able to mist the enclosure throughout the day to increase the humidity. You have probably seen other methods on youtube for open enclosures as well.

It is easier to control the humidity in a closed environment, though, especially if you live in a dry climate. The problem with the closed approach is assuring that it does not get so humid that the substrate is damp. And you must be sure you have very little organic material in the closed box so that it does not get damp and produce mold or fungus.

Okay maybe it's best that I keep them in closed terrarium. Where you buys oyster shell?

Either works, maintaining humidity is important for babies though. I keep mine in a mostly closed enclosure and run mister twice day. You can also make a plastic box with fogger which it can go into if wants.

Crushed oyster shells can be purchased from amazon or pet feed. They're fed to chickens.

Very interesting video, and good ideas.
I keep mine in enclosed terrarium until they are bigger I think.
It is probably the best for their climate
