I bought an adult female redfoot in May. On July 31st she laid 3 eggs. Unfortunately I had no idea that she did and cracked two while cleaning her garden. I managed to save one, and it appears to be chalking. Does this mean it’s most likely fertile? I have the egg in a hovabator that I hastily bought once we found the egg. Years ago I bred and hatched ackies, but I’ve never done tortoises. Any advice is welcome, I’ve been trying to read as much as I can.
Is it likely that she will lay another clutch? At least I know what to look for now, the morning she laid she was pacing a ton from one hide to the other and seemed agitated. She’s eaten 3-4 cuttlebones since we got her, I guess she needs to calcium. Is there anything else I need to change in her diet to help her recover?
