I’m a little paranoid about my tortoises getting enough sun. They have an outdoor area they spend at least an hour a day in, but most of the time much longer. We live in Florida so the weather is pretty perfect for them. They spend much of it in the shade or hide though. Is that still sufficient? Or should I encourage them to be in direct sun? I was reading that the recommendation is 1 hour per inch of shell. Do cloudy days count?

one tort is about 1.5 years and the others about 6 months.
Any thing else you suggest or recommend I would love to hear. We also spend time with them on our front porch a lot of evenings. They get a little evening sun but UV isn’t as strong then.

The UVB rays bounce around reflecting off surfaces, so he doesn't need to be in direct sun to benefit.

Thank you so much. That’s what I thought, I think I just needed the reassurance.
