Strange white patch on head

Hi

I don't have too much experience with land tortoises.
My female turtle seems to have developed a whitish patch
on her head. I don't remember ever seeing that on her before.
It doesn't appear painful, crusty, infected or bloody.

She lives in a protected enclosure. She is eating on a daily basis.

Does anyone recognize this ailment? Is this common,
changes to the skin?

Thanks so much !

I would say that one of his scales has fallen off. This happened to my tortoise and recent,y the white patch seems to have vanished. I would make sure it stays clean and if needed, you could get some cream from the vet.

Hi Yillt
.. Thank you kindly for your concerned response! I looked at it a bit more closely with a flash light and yes, it does seem a bit raised. Almost like a scale, or shedding. I didn't even know turtles did that! But, it does make sense.
Thanks again
Kim

Your welcome. I must admit, it seems quite large when I have a closer look. Does he seem in any pain? Please could I see a photo of is enclosure because there may be a danger/sharp edges that you haven't noticed. I love his smooth shell.

Hi, Kim, and welcome to the Forum!

I don't think it's anything to worry about.
