Stinken tortoise

My russian tortoise is always a little
smelly but thats not big deal. But today he smelled awful and i was watching him and i noticed he was sweeping his tail back and forth over the ground and he crawled over my arm while doing it and like his tail wasnt wet or nothen jst a regular but wen i smelled my arm where he did that at it WREAKED!
Idk whats up, help please

When a tortoise is getting ready to poop, they will usually sweep their tail back and forth like you've described. Could your little guy be a little constipated? Try giving him a good soak in warm water. And yes...depending upon what they eat...tortoises (especially their poop) can be kind of smelly.
