After 3 months of treatment since my dog tried to eat Stanley, we had vets today he no longer needs cream applied to his wound daily, dead shell has been removed and just needs iodine daily to keep infection at bay :) need to go back in a month to change his resin support too allow him to grow, he is a very lucky boy :) and to top that he's put on 6g in a month :)

Iodine will keep infection at bay, but it will also kill the new tissue that is trying to grow. Your vet told you to do this? I would recommend a second opinion.

Yea vet prescribed iodine and mix 50/50 with water only to put on tiny cracks on his new shell growth under dead shell that has been removed not on what was the open wound :)

Hi Kele:

I'm with Tom on this one. Iodine inhibits the growth of new white cells. We always instruct to only use it one time.
