Spruce pine fir wood? What sealant?

View attachment 41413Hey, I was wondering is spruce pine fir and alright wood to use for an outdoor enclosure? Also which sealant is best for the wood to seal fumes and protect from water? Ill post a pic of my plans to build.

i coated my wood with urethane, but that was for indoor use.

So the SPF wood is good when sealed up.

I wouldn't use spf. No sealer or waterproofer will last very long in your climate. I would use treated, and let it get rained on a few times before putting your tortoises in. I used old RR ties for my big pen.

Oh ok so ties should be all good even though treated no sealant required. I wa originally doing this idea. Then got worried it was dangerous.
