Spot on Neck

Hello there, i've had two tortoises for about three years now but i've noticed on one of them a large spot which has just popped up recently.

Due to its size i'll be taking him to the vet in the next few days, but does anyone know what this is?
Its probably not anything too bad but i'm extremely worried, after looking online it looks like abscess but i would like a expert opinion.

Hi Joshua:

I'd like to see a picture in relationship to the whole head. Just looking at the swelling doesn't give me enough of a perspective to tell. My gut guess is that it ISN'T an abscess, but you'll need to take the tortoise to a vet to see what it is.

It's hard to tell if that is in the thyroid area. Tortoises, especially galapagos tortoises, sometimes are afflicted with goiter.

Late Update:
After a day after the post i took him to the vet, which they said they thought it was abscess.
They drained the spot and its gone down dramatically.
He's now on daily antibiotics and is having a check up tomorrow.
