Is it safe for my tort to ingest? I found him chowing down on a bit outside his hide box, a bit worried because I'm not sure how much of it he ate.

Does he continue to eat it?

Make sure he has food available and good lighting. If he ate a lot then make sure you keep him hydrated and gets some exercise so he can poop out what he has inside.

They will ingest it by accident or on purpose, as long as he is well hydrated there should be no problem.
