Hello, I have had Roosevelt (my redfooted tortoise,) for about 6 months now. Looking at all the pictures of redfoots on here, I am worried that maybe something is wrong? He has a very light shell with very little dark on him. He is in long-fiber sphagnum (kept moist,) with a 75 watt basking lamp and a UV. He goes out about 3 times a week and typically eats a mix of lettuces, hibiscus, prickly pear pads, mangoes, apples, pumpkin, collard greens, and turnip greens. He has been this color since I got him. Any ideas about what may be up?

- Thanks in advance,
Kady :tort:

Hi Kady, and welcome to the Forum!

There is nothing wrong or unusual about Roosevelt's shell. He looks perfectly normal to me.

He looks perfectly fine to me! Redfoots tend to have a ton of different color variations as babies but as they grow they all generally start to look the same. I thought the same thing about my baby, but that's just how some are! Here's a picture of mine:
