Shy russian..

I have a male russian tortoise and from way y'all had told me he seems to be full grown, I was just wondering if anyone one else has a really shy tort? Turk has been shy since the day I got him, I know each tort has their own personality just like we do but it kinda concerns me, anytime I go near him he ducks into his shell, inside, outside during bathtime, giving him food, even if I just walk close to him to check on him in he goes... Is this normal? And is there anything I can do to just get him more outgoing around me? I've had him for 4 month almost. And when I leave him alone and keep my distance he walks around climbs on things and is pretty attentive.

Just keep handling, and being around him. Move slow and not over top of him. He may come around and then he may always be one of the shyer ones. Good luck.

Yeah I kinda have a feeling that he might always be shy, which I'm okay with because he is my baby lol!! But thank you for the advice
