I have two tortoises. I've had one for 10 years. He is quiet social and loves to eat with our family at dinner. But, our newest tortoise which we got 2 years ago has been quite shy. We have his cage in the living room, but I just don't think we really have a friendship like my other tortoise. Does anyone have any tips for bonding with your tortoise and building trust?

Based on your other thread, I assume this new one is shy because it's the bullied tort in the pair.
If you gave them each their own separate kingdom, I bet you'd see a new personality spark up in this one :)

Not all the Tortoise are the same. I have 4 small Leopard Tortoises, you can very clearly identify the difference in personalities. couple of them are very active but one just sleep most of the time, or stay in the corner with her back against the wall and eyes open looking, just don't like to move. She eat, poop, pee all OK. Just not like to walk around or you call it social.

I would guess you do the hand feeding and special treats?
