A few weeks ago I posted about my tortoise not using his new shelter. Tom's suggestion of making a barrier around the new shelter did the trick. In 3 days Sheldon was on his own and using his new shelter. I was very impressed with how quickly he caught on. It has been cold and raining where I live, so I am very relieved he is using it. Before using his new shelter he was starting to hibernate
and was not coming out during the day. I did not think this was a healthy behavior for him. As I mentioned earlier I found Sheldon wandering the street last year. After I was unable to locate an owner I decided to keep him. I didn't know what to expect and kind of thought he would just do his own thing. I was wrong. He is a joy to have in the backyard. He is very active, social, clever, and curious. I found a new friend!
