shell looks like its growing not sure

My tortoises scales on his shell seem to be growing apart i was wondering if anyone could show me a picture of a russian tortoises shell scales growing.

The tortoises have scutes. There are lines in between these scutes. Has the tortoise grows, the lines become more noticeable and a different color and will most times start out as small lines and then get a little wider. Check the pics of Russians out here http://tortoiseforum.org/thread-74312.html
