On Saturday my friend ad I went to my dads cabin near his cabin there is a lodge with pools my friend and I went to go look for some frogs but instead we found two salamanders in the bottom of the pool struggling to get out so my friend and I got a net and got them out one looked dead the other was barely moving we took them back to my dad's cabin and put them in a big jar with wet leaves and a pice of wood the next day they were very active and didn't move as slow

Aww! You did a great job saving them!

You should probably put them by the base of a moist tree now. They will go into their form of "hibernation"

Good for you for saving them. They are really cute. I used to find salamanders all the time when I was a kid. Now, can hardly find them.

If memory serves me correctly, newts are aquatic during the larval stage and during breeding season. This time of year, I think they'd die in a pond.
