My Russian Tortoise is pacing back and forth and is not eating..took to vet...they were no help. He has eaten a lil sweet potato, but over all not acting like he used to. My mom's tortoise and she passed in July. I'm caring for him...he's 15 and had same living quarters for the whole time. Got temps right, humidity with humidifier 40-50%. Worried about him..is he sick? Please help

Not entirely sure if this will be good advice, but I've seen vets inject liquid food directly into a turtle's mouth. Might be something to consider or at least research about?

We will need to get pictures of him in the enclosure, and close ups of the tortoise top and bottom, diet information and any other information you can give.

Hi so sorry about the loss of your Mum, but lovely that you've taken in her tort.
If you post pics of the tort and his enclosure and lamps you are using members can see if there's anything affecting his behaviour. Do you know what your mum used to feed him? It could be that he is rebelling against a change of diet.
Unless vets are tortoise specialists, very few of them know how to treat torts and just offer vitamin jabs which can sometimes do more harm than good, but with pics and more information about temps and diet etc members here can offer better advice.
This is an up to date caresheet which will help you check conditions are as they should be
- it's aimed at rearing babies but has a lot of information e.g. diet temps etc., relevant to older torts too
Please read that and ask as many questions as you like
Torts can go quite a while without food but they need to be kept hydrated with fresh water available daily and regular luke warm shallow soaks.
