I see this very old table as a really fantastic tortoise enclosure, but am trying to figure out how to do it. Any suggestions? Anyone done something like this before?
Not real sure it would be worth it. It's kinda small. However, enclosure the sides, replace the bottom with something solid, or lay something solid over it and remove the top.
Well, I like it. I think there's a lot of potential there. I can see cutting pieces of plywood to fit together on the inside walls, so the plywood touches at the corners, you can put silicone over the seams. But first put down a plywood floor, maybe covered with a piece of linoleum. Water treat the walls. I don't know how you would mount lights on the glass, but maybe you could mount the tube-type fluorescent fixtures on the side wall. I don't know how to provide heat either, but I imagine it can be worked out. It would detract from the pretty picture if you had the glass cut maybe at the 1/3rd mark and hinged so you could open a section of the top, but that would be easier than having to administer through one of the side walls. I think it would be a wonderful area for a baby or a couple of babies. I can see it in my mind's eye full of plants, rocks, substrate water, etc. It will look great!!! If you decide to do this project, please keep us in the loop.
There is someone on here with a table enclosure. I can't remember who . But I do know it is in the enclosure section. Good luck I have always wanted to get a custom table made to house a rattle snake . Just would be awesome to have a viper in my table . But that is just a pipe dream because the wife would not go for that . Ha ha !!!
