Just trying my best for our new Redfoot [emoji4]and I have little clue (you probably guessed that). My daughter chose the pet lol<br /><br />Thanks in advance! And hugely appreciate your advice.

Hi! I'm not sure if others are having trouble reading your post or if it's just me but since you haven't had any replies I thought I'd mention it. Maybe something went wrong with your keyboard? It's tough to follow with all the extra symbols and stuff.

Thanks for mentioning that.

I’ll re-type and post here again

Hi there

Seeking some urgent help.

We have just purchased a baby Redfoot today. I’m looking to buy the new equipment tomorrow, as I’ve already learnt the pet store has sold me a few bad items. I live in the UK.

I was hoping to get some help from you.

I have a vivarium with ventilation slots at the rear and can feed through any cables.

Currently I have:
;Heat mat ;Bark chip;Hideaway;UVB light<Red basking lamp

Following forum advice I’m looking to change the following:

Change heat mat for CHE with thermostat and thermometer like this:&
https://www.reptilecentre.com/prorep-ceramic-heater-emitter-100w_p31486193.htm

https://www.reptilecentre.com/prorep-ceramic-heater-emitter-100w_p31486193.htm

https://www.reptilecentre.com/microclimate-dimmer-b1-thermostat-black-600w_p31515863.htm

https://www.reptilecentre.com/microclimate-dimmer-b1-thermostat-black-600w_p31515863.htm

https://www.reptilecentre.com/zoo-m...amp;amp;-temperature-controller_p31232543.htm

Will stop using the red basking lamp as I’ve been told it’s not required for Redfoots.

With the new equipment can I ask:

Where should I position the CHE? On ceiling? And front back or centre?

;Where should I position the UVB? At the moment it’s at the rear ceiling of the vivarium. Can I put it right at the front on ceiling? I’m thinking this way it doesn’t shine in my eyes either when I look in ;(Side issue: do these lights give off radiation and is it safe for kids to put hand into vivarium when the light is on?)

;Really sorry to bombard you with questions. Just trying my best for our new Redfoot and I have little clue (you probably guessed that). My daughter chose the pet lol

Thanks in advance! And hugely appreciate your advice.

Typically the Che should be in the center, but it also depend on how big your enclosure is. The idea is to position the Che where it will be most effective in heating the whole enclosure. Closed chamber does all in holding heat and humidity. Usually, it's suggested to put the uvb next to the basking bulb, but again it depends on your enclosure.

If you post pictures of your tort and enclosure it will be easier to help you. Also, check out the care sheets on the forum for red foots. Has great info on all the care.

A lot of the placement and brand-name choices are open to interpretation, depending on who you ask, but so long as you can get your humidity and temps consistently over 80 (% and F) in in your enclosure, you'll be on the right track ... once you get those in place, everything else can be tinkered with.
