Hi there,

Just looking for a bit of advice.
I'm a Red Footed Tortoise dad of almost 10 years. I rescued my little guy from a family that kept him in newspapers in an unlit enclosure - causing his back legs to not work correctly. BUT he's been my world ever since. He loves to get out around the house once he's heated up in the mornings, and spends most of his time eating and digging around.

He's a BIG boy with a beautiful shell. I was concerned about him a couple of years ago because he has a little nose wheeze. Got him checked out and his respiration is all normal, vet couldn't find any problems with him and he's totally healthy. Seems to just be a funny quirk.

However, when I would let him outside (after he'd almost break my arm to get into the garden) his breathing becomes incredibly strained and he gasps, almost like he's choking. Is this just stress? I live beside a loud family and when they're outside it seems to be worse for him. I think it's because he just gets a little overhwlemd. When it's quiet, he enjoys it.

Any advice or tips?
