I have a 40w spot, an 80w MVB (9 month old) and a 25w UVA UVB strip bulb (couple of weeks old).

My tortoise is a 3 year old Hermanns.

What I was using for my Greek Tortoise hatchling for a little over a week. Which was no good.
Too low of a wattage for a hatchling's basking temps. And coil UVB damages a tort's eyes.

And what I am using now.
A combined system.
125W Solar Glo Mercury Vapor Lamp.
$33 on this site

Had it for over 4 weeks now & love it.
Gives off UVA & UVB & keeps basking temps for my hatchling between 95-100 degrees :D

I thought those bulbs would hurt the tortoises eyes?

Mercury vapor light bulbs are the good stuff... its the coiled that can cause harm to your torties eyes....
