I have read back through all of the threads I could find on this topic
and this is what I think is true:

If I have 4 yearling red-foot torts...and I am confident that they
are red-foot then:
the 2 with dark plastrons are southern
and the 2 with light bellies are Northern?

Am I right?? :(

I have no idea. However you could send a pm to Jackrat-red foot breeder or
N2torts-red foot torts. They should be able to help you out. Good luck:D

Thanks for waiting, but I've been in the hospital for the last week. Nothing major, but it kept me away from the keyboard for a while.

Photos would make it more likely to tell, but in general- yes, the northern-type red-footeds have light plastrons, the southerns have dark ones.
