Good day to everyone! I'm new to the forum and I have a 3 month old baby star tortoise. So far I have learned a lot from this forum on the do's and don't. The baby tortoise is not my first, I had a Sulcata 12 yrs. ago and the information today is just incredible!! My hats off to the unselfish contributors on this forum. I have been feeding my tort fresh grass and a type of Hibiscus ( turk's cap ) and I want to provide my tort with a variety of fresh greens daily. Now if you guys would indulge me a bit on identifying a few plants ( soon, just one for now ) that I encounter everyday on my way home from work. Best regards to everyone!!!

( Off Topic ) I'm sure that a lot of people on this forum are dog lovers like me ( I have 4 by the way ). Isn't it that if you change a dog's diet abruptly It would certainly upset his digestive system? Does this apply to torts too? Well with all the variety on the diet??? I know that grass should consist most of the diet. As for the other varieties, should I introduce them to the diet slowly??? Or is it ok to change the varieties on the diet daily?

If you read the care sheet for leopard tortoises, pinned at the top of our leopard section, it will give you a few pointers on what to feed your tortoise. (Leopard and star take basically the same care)

Dark, leafy greens, weeds and broad-leaf plants. As long as you're feeding greens, I don't think it makes any difference to the tortoise's digestive system if you change them out every few days.
