I am curious of all the enclosures everyone has created:) from the babies on up to the big kids! Please share pictures and information to help us newbies spark some healthy creativity for our torts. ImageUploadedByTortForum1387378497.920462.jpg

This is my favorite enclosure. My husband turned a bookcase on it's back and started building up.
Separate board on top with lighting and heating attached.
The clear area's have plexiglass.

This is a closed chamber with heat and humidity controls, used for baby Redfoots.

Here is an easier one

This is a 40 gallon stock tank with insulation wrapped in the outside, as this container is in the mountains [SNOWMAN WITHOUT SNOW]️
Again the wood has the lighting and heat attached and the rest, on top is plexiglass.

This is used for the same Redfoot babies; different location. It is also heat and humidity controlled.

My little SA leopard, BenAwes, lives in a tort table on an inside wall of the leopard shed:

Normally there is more moss in the 'cave' than that, but he really burrows into it and when he comes out, he pulls a lot of it out with him.

Under the substrate and under the 'cave' I have a seedling heat mat. It keeps the 'cave' moist and warm.

Hi Yvonne,

I'm getting some new hatchlings in next week and I'm going to try your method using the seedling het mat. Where do you place yours...in one thread I thought it was under the plastic enclosure, then another thread looked like you placed it inside and then buried with orchid bark?

Also do you recommend the 10x20 size over the 3x 20 windowsill one? I think he hydro farm you used was he bigger one.

I haven't ever done belly warmth, but we are always trying to find the bet ways to create smooth shells in captivity.

Thanks,
Christy p

My hatchling chamber is a converted Zilla tank.

My juvenile chamber is a christmas tree tote. They spend the day in their outdoor pen and only sleep in here.

A small enclosure for the time until the summer will arrive :). I take some plants and leaves and I make everything wet every morning. So I got a high humidity and warm air.

I've made many adjustments since this picture. The lights are lower, there is another light, the ramps are covered in non slip kitchen material and they all have substrate on the balcony area. They all enjoy it. I call it my little tortoise neighborhood because they an go up and see their neighbors. These tubs are kinda small for all my torts but we are still in the process of moving so they are here temporarily. I'm building a new enclosure. One is 6' long by 2' wide and that's where my sully will stay until summer, then one is a 4' by 2' and my redfoots will stay until summer and them move to the 6' by 2' my Russians will have an outdoor enclosure also but will probably remain in the Rubbermaid for a while longer. I have two hatchling sulcatas in a rubber maid jut like this as well as another jeuv sulcata who is 6" in one just like it. I'm going to build another enclosure for inside temps but they are getting situated here first. I use Eco wary and coco husk or reptibark. I have one sully in aspen chips and I hate it. They pack down get stuck in her shell. It irks me. So those will go soon. Their balcony is coated in mineral oil to make it semi water proof when I spray it. They also have PVC pipe run to a repti fogger for humidity. I plan on covering half to 3/4 of thee enclosure when I get the new one built.
