Can I keep rosey outside all summer? If so is a 5x4 foot pen good or is that too big?

I wouldn’t worry about the pen being too big as long as you can locate her in it. Make sure she has plenty of spaces to get out of the sun. Also somewhere she can submerge in water is key. Are you planning on covering the enclosure?

Yes I’m gonna cover it with a locking chicken wire screen top

You might want something sturdier than chicken wire. I’ve use the half-inch wire mesh which has enough gaps to let in all the light (especially uv) but is MUCH sturdier than chicken wire.

agree. Squirrels need to be kept out as well as Raccoons. Chicken wire is not strong enough. Hardware cloth is your best bet. ( 1/2 inch wire mesh screen)

Ill lool into it, i had a roll of chicken wire so i was going to use what i had. I was worried that tge half inch was too small and would create more shade than light

They will get enough sun. you want to make sure they have enough shade, and a place to get out of the sun when they want to.

If you double up on the chicken wire and tie the 2 layers together in several places using small nylon ties or wire, it will strengthen the top greatly. Predators can unravel a single layer with some work, but 2 layers makes it much harder, and you will still get the sunlight you want.
