From time to time I get hatchlings. Either ones I produce or ones given to me or purchased. I built a couple outdoor hatchling enclosures about 6 years ago and although they are weathered they still work great. My goal was not to build the typical solid wall enclosure. I wanted to provide a way hatchlings could bask in the early morning sun. I feel that many of the issues people have with hatchlings can be directly linked to intense basking spots (anything over 90 degrees) and I wanted to let my hatchlings get all the benefits of the sun minus the mid morning to mid afternoon intensity which is still available, but seldom used.
As you can see the enclosures are setup mostly for hiding spots and shade. I only provide them small areas of direct sunlight, which bye the way is a waste because they are never in those areas. They all prefer to bask in the broken up sun light penetrating the grass or bushes and never fully expose their entire bodys to the sun.
