Hi, I have 2 young red-footed tortoises here and I have no idea how to identify their subspecies whether it is a normal RF or a cherryhead RF. Maybe someone can help me get some clarifications regarding the subspecies. :)

I'd say Chili is a Northern. Usually northerns have all tan on there plastron while cherries have more black coloring on theirs.

The animal on the left looks to be of mixed heritage. You would need to post more pictures of the animal on the right for a better determination...

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. So both are normal redfoots and they are both non-cherries, right? :) At first I thought that Chili was a cherryhead because his/her head is kinda orange red.

For the one on the right which is Mayo. I can take photos of her plastron tomorrow, it's almost 2 in the morning here, don't want to wake her up. :p But she pretty much has the same plastron as Chili.
