Nonchlorine Bleach

Weird question - but does anyone know if non chlorine bleach disinfects like regular bleach? (I ask because I like to wash my pet blankets in bleach to disinfect - but it fades the colors.) My friend is saying color safe bleach will do the trick ... but I don't think so? What does everyone use to wash their animal blankets, beds ... etc?

I always put a small amount of Oxyclean into my pet laundry...I think it helps the machine to clean "deeper". Of course, as I type this I'm realizing that I have no scientific justification for this belief--it's purely anecdotal.

I also use white vinegar sometimes, as another soccer mom told me it helps remove some of the stinky sweatiness of athlete's clothes...I'll try anything on that one!

My opinion is that non-chlorine bleach does NOT disinfect like regular bleach.
