Hi everyohe. I used to find tortoises on the roads when i was a kid in South Africa. Live in kent, in England now, and wondered if there are any tortoises native to England or any part of Europe? If so, I am thinking I might like to get involved in a breeding programme. Any ideas?

to the forum!!

There are no tortoises native to England, however England has a thriving tortoise-keeping population. We have several U.K. folks here on the forum and I'm sure on of them will clue you in!

Welcome to the forum :)

Like Yvonne said there are no tortoises native to the UK. There are though a few native to Europe, Hermanns..Testudo hermanni, Spur-thighed...Testudo graeca and Marginated...Testudo marginata. There are though others that are being bred in the UK also.
