Hey guys:

I'm new to the tortoise community. Purchased by first tortoise (sulcata hatchling) about a month ago. I've really done my best to make sure his habitat (high humidity, UVA light, UVB light) and diet (mostly grass) have been appropriate. However, I've started to notice some changes in his shell which have me concerned about shell rot. Here are a couple of pictures of Sandwich so you can judge for yourselves. I just have two questions. 1. Is this shell rot and 2. If so, what is the most effective way of treating it? Thanks!

What a wonderful shell color...and are you referring to the white kinda look between the scutes? If yes, those look like good normal growth lines....as always, wait around for the others ---the more the merrier...oh and

Unfortunately, I didn't buy from a breeder with a good reputation (rookie mistake) and there was a fair amount of pyramiding when I first got him. I installed a humidifier in his habitat and the humidity is now almost always more than 95%.

Oh gosh...that shell looks good....a slight bit of raise...but nothing that won't grow beautiful .....the important thing is the OVERALL health of the tort....have fun with the tort and enjoy him/her...
