Need help with enclosure

I am hoping you could give me some guidance. I am setting up an outdoor 4x8 enclosure.. I want to install a heat lamp. I am in Phoenix, but it does get cold here at night. How much distance should there be between the lamp and the top of my sulcata? I purchased a 50w red bulb. thank you in advance. Shirley & NordysShe is much bigger than this photo. She covers my hand now.

Hi Shirley: I think it's probably better to use a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) than the red bulb:


This provides heat without light. You can use it in conjunction with a thermostat and it will maintain the temperature you where you adjust it to. The unit should be not closer than 12" from the top of the tortoise's shell. That means you'll need to adjust it higher as the tortoise grows.
