This plant is in my front yard in South Texas. My landlord says it is a native hibiscus, but I wanted to verify it was truly in the correct family and safe before I let Indy eat any of it.

Can anyone vouch that this plant is safe for tortoises?Front Flower- June 1.jpg

Thanks @mike taylor . The flower looks right to me also, but the leaves just look so different from any of my store bought hibiscus that I wanted to be sure. @Yvonne G are you familiar with this plant?

That's a hardy hibiscus. It is edible.

Wow...I just don't know what to do with myself. On the moderator Forum they refer to me as the de-spammer queen and here in the Plant I.D. Forum I'm now the Plant Queen. And now I have that darned Abba song running through my head, Dancing Queen!
