Don't forget to through out some cuttle bone for him to chew on. How is the box turtle that got her beak trimmed?

Cuttle bone already "thrown." Thanks! The box turtle is doing great, and eating like a horse.

On second thought, his old injuries look like he has been chewed on by a dog. The edges of the carapace all around the front are chipped, and the gulars in one of the first pictures are definitely chewed.

I love tortoises with character. And Max certainly has character!

Welcome to the Forum!

....and this was my 1st thought also! Looks like a dog mauling at an early age.

I agree with the the growth being due to sustaining a serious injury which he survived. Shame his face looks very weathered. He's had a rough first nine years.
