Casey my sweet 14 year old Russian tortoise seems to have something wrong with his shell,At first when I noticed it I brought him too the vet and the vet explained that some of his shell was dead and removed it,He gave me a topical cream to put on his shell to treat it but never really explained what it was. This was almost a year ago.Casey gets regular check up’s and the vet says his shell is fine and just has scarring.I’m not sure if it’s from something he ate in the past,From a fall or a burn or maybe even the after affects of some shell rot…I would really love a second option on this.
As far as I know his shell seems healthy except for the scarring(looks like exposed bone to me!) His shell is hard and doesn’t flake like it did in the past,no foul smell and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all.If he did have a fungal infection in the past it now seems to be nonexistent!I’m really hoping it’s not exposed bone..I’m worried about him.Could it be a missing supliment?
His scoots don’t seem to be growing back but it doesn’t seem to be spending,Please if anyone know of anything your help would be gratefully appreciated!
