I adopted a Russian tortoise on saturday from the Colorado Reptile Humane Society. I am little concerned because, I have not seen him eat yet and its Monday. Can someone please offer any advice or suggestions. Thank you.

Hi Brandon:

Its sometimes hard on a tortoise to be uprooted and plunked down in a new area. Go over your husbandry and be sure everything is like it should be...heat, light, etc. If it is all ok, then just give him some time to realize that you're the food god and he's safe.

although russians usually adapt real quick, they can take time to re adjust I would relax, and maybe offer a nice treat, either something he ate at the shelter, or you could always try a hibiscus flower.
