My Russian is acting weird!!! (trying to escape)

My little izzy has been frantically clawing all over her cage, I've had her since march and she just barely started doing this. Why is she all of a sudden so eager to get out? Also she has a large piece of scaly skin on bet, any ideas as to what this is?

She is shedding, no big deal just soak her a lil more. Also check temps.

Frantic type behavior/clawing could be a temperature problem. What are your temps at?
Skin shedding is pretty normal, they often do it in chunks.

My temp is right at 90 during the day and at about 70 at night

Her enclosure is glass but I bought the desert glass clings so she can't see out of it

Is 90 the overall temp, or the basking side? I s there a cool down side?

She looks like she is shedding... they do that when they are too warm/cold... hoe big is the tank? Russians love lots of room!

Also offer more food. Mine get frantic when they're too hungry, and it's not predictable.

Your tortoise needs to be set up outside in a safe, escape-proof yard. Being in a glass tank with an overall temperature of 90F degrees is way too hot, and way too small for a russian tortoise. They are used to wandering over great distances in search of food. Russian tortoises are one species that does well in cooler temperatures. She's trying to get away from the heat.
