Keep the humidity up and it will help show what color it has. It won't make it more "cherry head" but it will help.

Do carrot or color enhancing koi pellets help?

REDFOOTMATT, what you got is what you get. The color is usually established at birth I believe. Cherry Heads are known for the red markings on the face and head. red foots not so much. The only time I have seen one change color and brighten is when it was dehydrated and mal nourished. If you little one is in good health it more than likely will not color up more and as far as I know the Koi pellets will not work for changing RF head coloring.
Hope this does not dissuade your likes for this sweet looking little RF.

"Cherry-head" is POSSIBLY a different subspecies of Red-foot Tortoise, but it may just be a naturally-occurring regional color morph. You can sometimes identify a cherry-head, even with non-cherry colors, by a few key points:
- Plastron is mostly dark with semi-symmetrical markings that are often almost dark sunbursts on each scute.
- Nose is colored and shows a slight 'snout' rather than the typical smooth rounding.
- Comparatively little coloration on a mostly dark-fleshed head, although that color is USUALLY a bright cherry red.

A tortoise is born a cherry-head or not a cherry-head. While a good diet and proper hydration will help the colors, there is no know additive that brighten colors or adds colors not there.

So sweet! I wouldn't want to change the color. He's too cute as it is.
