Today I got my first ever tortoise!
I travelled for an hour and a half by bus to get her (Or he, for some reason "she" just stuck) from Hermann Bruce (A breeder here in Scotland).
She is three months old and I have decided to name her Taffy. :shy:
Picture time, since I know how you all love them!
Taking her home.
Having a nice bath.
Exploring her new home! It is 6' x 2'.
It's nowhere near finished yet, but she seems to really like it!
I expected her to take a while to come out of her shell, but she has been very active and exploring lots.
I still want to put some plants in, and more things for her to clamber over and around. I also need a humid hide, I'm off to find some sphagnum moss as the weekend.
I also need another/a longer UVA/UVB tube, when I can afford it.
Any suggestions on how I can improve this are welcome!
Trying to climb! I'm going to use this as something other than a hide at the moment I think, I'm scared she'll flip herself too much trying to climb up. It's also much too big for her.
I've moved it to the cooler side of the table for now, to prevent her flipping herself under the basking bulb.
Basking! It's around 35°C in her basking area, and 25°C at the opposite end of the table.
I had to take the thermometer probe out for now, as she keept trying to nibble at it!
Munching away. This is just Florette Crispy with Nutrobal sprinkled over for the moment.
I'm going out foraging in my garden and the woods near my house tomorrow for weeds.
I'm very happy with her! She is just ridiculously cute.
My Dad is going to help me make an outside enclosure for her too, which I'm excited about doing!
