A new blacklight bulb usually lasts the whole season and burns out during the next winter (here in my experience). But I noticed a drastic decrease in the amount of electricity I used once I got rid of the CHEs and went to black light bulbs. It would be hard to measure that economically. I guess over time, the price of the unit would make the CHE a better value if I could only figure out how much electricity each used.
