Located in the Inland Empire, Southern California and available for pick-up (no shipping), this is a small male about 20-years old.

He will need a home where he is the only creature, as he has been quite aggressive to other turtles. I have kept him outside year round for the last 5 years in a Walmart-type wading pool.

In a new home, if kept inside, he will need at least a 40-gallon container. He eats floating food sticks, dead guppies, mealworms, earthworms, and cut-up chicken breast.

If you will provide a good home, this is a no-fee adoption.

You probably have others in the pond, though. Right?

I live in Riverside and can take him if you do not find a home for him.

Do musk turtles have the same requirements as a mud turtle? I set up a 50 gallon for a mud turtle but since she seems resistant to change, I think I'll leave her in her 80 gallon pond.

Yes, musk and mud are pretty interchangeable. I'm sure my little guy would be resistant to change too, but they do adapt. I have 3 females--1 musk and 2 3-stripes--that I keep together. They prefer being indoors, but I like to put them outside in the summer. I don't think they like it when I do. They don't seem to feel safe. Inside, they will bask, but outside they stay hidden in the water. Does yours bask outside?

I haven't seen her bask ever but I do hear her jump back into the water when I walk by the pond.

That's what my RES do all the time. I'm like, "Come on girls. You know me."

Well, if you think you'd be interested in homing my little guy, let me know. Other than his aggression toward other creatures, he seems kind of sweet. He's small, too. I could send you a picture through email, if you want.

I just noticed your comment about living in Riverside and being willing to take him. So you would give him the indoor home that you had planned for your other?

Yes, I'd love to give him a new home.

The tank has only been up and running for a week on my enclosed porch. I'm still playing with the arrangement of driftwood pieces and would still like to put in a raised, dry sand basking area. Right now, it just has a large piece of driftwood that extends above the waterline as a basking spot. It has duckweed, water lettuce and water hyacinths floating around and a bunch of guppy fry from the mud turtle pond.

I'm trying out a different combo of filtration - UGF with 3 uptake pipes. 2 of the pipes have air stones and the other pipe has an HOB connected to it. Water is testing nice and clear but of course it only has baby fry.

I'd love to see a picture of your musk. Do you know what type it is? I'll send a picture of the tank tomorrow morning.

I forgot to ask when would be a good day/time to meet up or pick him up? I'll send a PM with my cell phone number.
