Microchipping Russians

I was just wondering, since Russians are so tiny, if it's wise to try to get them microchipped? I worry, since I will be building an outdoor enclosure at our new home and want to be able to prove he's mine if he gets out and is found by someone.

Idk to be honest I don't think they are usually brought to the pound. Also, it's not very commonly done. However, I do think it's a smart idea.
