With feeding tortoises, you should remember:
  • Strive for a big variety
  • Keep a track of your tortoises growth (aim for a steady and slow growth and weight gaim from month to month)
  • When it is possible, feed them suitable outdoor plants
  • Greek tortoises digestive system is not suitable for fruit
  • Fiber and nutritional value: Many grocery store items have very litlle fiber or any nutritional value (especially diffrent types of lettuces and cucumber). If you feed a lot of these I would supplement with tortoise pellets for fiber and some calcium powder to maintain a good Ca : P ratio
  • Greek tortoises are strict herbivores
  • Fresh water should always be available
What to avoid (AKA what to feed only a little):
  • Protein and phytic acid (peas and beans)
  • Carbohydrates (root vegetables like carrots)
  • Goitrogens (like cabbage)
I would also look at the tortoise table, escpecially these links:

Supplementation (escpecially important when feeding grocery store food)

There are a couple of really useful apps:-
  • Tortoise table
  • PlantNet
Plantnet will tell you what a plant is by taking a picture. You can then look up the plant in Tortoise table and it will tell you if it is tortoise friendly.
